What does Power and Water do?

Power and Water is responsible for maintaining and operating the electricity distribution infrastructure — including the poles, wires, transformers, and meters — that delivers electricity to homes and businesses in its service area. As a distributor, Power and Water does not sell electricity plans or set energy prices for consumers.

Your electricity retailer (the company you pay your bills to) purchases electricity from the wholesale market and transmits it through the distribution network managed by Power and Water. The distribution charge — sometimes called the network charge — forms part of your electricity bill and covers the cost of maintaining this infrastructure.
